Support your English Learners with the tools they need to succeed in reading!

✅ I’ve Opted In to i-Ready—Now What?

Welcome! Whether you’re new to i-Ready or a returning educator, here’s what to plan for after opting in.

Research shows that English Learners make the most growth when the program is used with fidelity. Let’s set you—and your students—up for success.

✔ Success Criteria for Implementation

1. Utilize educator training and support.
We strongly recommend everyone using
i-Ready be trained on how to use the program with fidelity for your English Learners.

2. Identify the student with an “EL” indicator in i-Ready.

  • Designate students as English Learners in i‑Ready to simplify reporting and groupings for teachers (strongly recommended). This allows us to provide state-level assessment data to the SDE.

3. Administer the Diagnostic regularly, and monitor usage.

  • Give the i‑Ready Diagnostic two or three times per year.

4. Maximize growth with Personalized Instruction.

  • Target 30–49 min./week with a 70 percent lesson pass rate for stronger reading gains.
  • Reinforce grade-level learning, and close skills gaps.

5. Use data to drive instruction.

  • Use i‑Ready reports to guide small groups, differentiation, and monitor progress.
  • Make data-driven decisions to support every student’s growth.

5. Attend regular data meetings.

  • Participate in regular, short data meetings to make the most of your i-Ready data: Monitor student progress, set and track achievement goals, plan targeted instruction, celebrate growth, and identify next steps!
