We recognize the many assets English Learners bring to the classroom, and ensuring they achieve academic success with rigorous grade-level content is our priority. English Learners have unique academic needs; they also bring unique background experiences, language, personalities, and learning styles into the classroom. At Curriculum Associates, we design curriculum to value what students bring to the classroom while ensuring they are able to access grade-level content.

From the start, we design our programs with English Learners in mind. We leverage research-based best-practice guidance from experts, practitioners, frameworks, and organizations such as the Council of the Great City Schools, the English Learners Success Forum, WIDA, TESOL, and others to identify nonnegotiable criteria in our curriculum to best support English Learners.

Leveraging Home Languages
Guidance for leveraging cognates, crosslinguistic connections, and language transfer for metalinguistic awareness. In-product EL call-outs give teachers real-time, content-specific guidance at the point of use to engage English Learners and draw on their language strengths.

Formative Assessment of Language
Checkpoints for monitoring students’ language progress throughout each unit.
