Additionally, structured discourse and text-based writing deepen understanding. When paired with Ready Writing, students engage in thematically connected lessons that emphasize writing about reading, enhancing critical thinking. Ongoing formative assessments provide actionable data to help teachers guide students toward comprehension success.

Emergent writing practice begins with drawing and labeling in Grades K and 1 and progresses to short and extended responses in Grades 2–8. Optionally pairing with Ready Writing emphasizes writing in response to reading, further strengthening critical thinking.
