Support Your Student's Learning at Home
Families play an important role in student learning. These resources are here to help support learning with i-Ready at home. More resources are available to teachers and school leaders on i-Ready Success Central.
What Is i-Ready?
In school, your child’s day includes many different types of learning, including teacher instruction, group work, reading, writing, and hands-on activities, among others. Schools use a mix of tools to support that learning and make sure every student gets what they need.
i-Ready is one of those tools. It helps teachers understand what your child already knows and where they may need more support, so instruction can be better targeted.
Students use i-Ready Personalized Instruction for a short amount of time each week, not all day. During that time, they work on lessons that adjust based on their answers, so they’re practicing skills at the right level for them.
The goal is simple: use a small amount of time to better support each child’s learning, while most of the day remains interactive, hands-on, and teacher led.
Frequently Asked Questions about i-Ready
The i-Ready Inform assessment is given up to three times each year and takes about 30–60 minutes per subject, typically broken into shorter sessions.
If a school also uses Personalized Instruction, i-Ready lessons are designed for short, structured use—about 30–49 minutes per subject per week (roughly five percent of instructional time). This is a small, intentional part of learning—not extended screen use.
Your child:
- Answers questions that adjust based on their responses
- Works on lessons at the right level for their learning needs
- Gets immediate feedback to help them improve
This helps make sure they’re not stuck on something too easy or too hard.

Paper and hands-on learning are still very important. i-Ready adds something different: it helps teachers quickly understand each student’s needs and adjust instruction right away.
It also includes supports like audio and language options that can help more students access the material and show what they know.
What This Means for Your Child
- Screen time is limited, structured, and purposeful.
- Your child is working at the right level.
- Teachers have better insight to support learning.
- Most of the school day remains interactive and off screen.
i-Ready is one small part of a balanced classroom, used to support learning alongside teaching, discussion, and hands-on activities.
If you have questions about how i-Ready is used or how your child is doing, check with your child’s teacher.
