Continuous

Engage in iterative coaching cycles, using our research-grounded methods to propel growth.

Go beyond our professional learning courses and tailored support offerings and receive targeted, job-embedded support for up to nine teachers and the instructional leaders, principals, and coaches who support them in this unique, limited-release offering. Coaching by i-Ready uses learning walks to define areas of focus that inform coaching cycles. This approach provides structured, specific, and supportive guidance through teacher learning cohorts to improve practice and benefit student outcomes.

Collaborate with a Certified Coach

Educators work on program best practices with a classroom-experienced i-Ready Certified Coach. Certified Coaches receive internal training as well as training from the Instructional Coaching Group on ways to establish clear communication, build trust and healthy relationships, and navigate through complex situations.

Unlock Active Learning Where It Matters Most

Instructional leaders and teachers expand and reinforce their knowledge of best instructional practices by participating in active coaching pathways featuring co-planning, co-facilitation, and co-reflection within the context of the classroom itself. Ownership of learning and long-term retention of new material are reinforced through essential feedback loops that keep best instructional practices at the heart of this new, curriculum-based implementation offering.

“I don’t think we would be in the place that we are right now without coaching. Even the students look forward to the people from i-Ready coming in. Professional learning that happens when students are in the building, while students are learning, and when students learning as a result of professional learning is something that goes a long way for the teacher, the coach, and the students themselves.”  Josh Almeida, Curriculum, Data, and Assessment Manager, New Bedford Public Schools

How the Coaching Pathways Work

Across the academic year, instructional leaders and teachers work with an i-Ready Certified Coach as they engage in a series of learning walks and collaborative coaching cycles, focused on strengthening effective teaching and learning of a selected program based on our research-grounded Collaborative Learning Framework.

Step 1: Learning Walks

  • Engage leaders in a series of classroom visits to identify schoolwide trends to inform the focus for the collaborative coaching cycle. These learning walks monitor instruction, identify trends, identify growth opportunities, and determine the coaching cycle focus.

Step 2: Leader Preplanning (Virtual, Leader Pathway)

  • Instructional leaders plan roles, set schedules, and gather resources based on the learning walk analysis identified to prepare for the first coaching cycle.

Step 3: Teacher Learning Cohorts (Virtual)

  • Prior to the start of the coaching cycle, teachers receive short, targeted learning sessions in their teacher cohorts. This helps ensure teachers understand the focus area by engaging with program content, re-examining program best practices, and determining how they can practically apply this learning before, during, and after the coaching cycle.

Step 4: Coaching Cycle

  • An i-Ready Certified Coach engages classroom teachers or a team of teachers in co-planning, co-facilitating, co-reflecting, and identifying next steps in a data-driven approach through in-person and virtual touchpoints.
  • During virtual co-planning, the i-Ready Certified Coach, instructional leaders, and teachers build on the learning that occurred during the teacher learning cohort to develop an individual goal directly related to the coaching cycle focus. The i-Ready Certified Coach and each teacher collaboratively plan for an upcoming lesson, selecting strategies to leverage to address the teacher’s goal, and agreeing upon facilitation roles for the lesson.
  • The i-Ready Certified Coach co-facilitates the lesson in person alongside the teacher. Following the lesson, the i-Ready Certified Coach and teacher co-reflect to debrief successes, challenges, changes, how this experience impacted their coaching focus, and necessary next steps.

Step 5: Leader Debrief (Leader Pathway)

  • The i-Ready Certified Coach debriefs with leaders to establish clear steps in between touchpoints and schedule the next series of support.
