How Tennessee’s Largest District Turned Things Around
Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) sought a singular instructional vision across its 222 schools. After seeing success using i-Ready with Tier 3 instruction, MSCS practiced collective efficacy and implemented a districtwide initiative in 2021 to expand Tier 1 supplemental support with i-Ready, Ready Reading, and Ready Mathematics. This proved to be the turning point, resulting in two consecutive years with a Level 5 rating for tremendous student growth—the highest distinction available.
