Off-the-Charts Mathematics Proficiency Growth in One Year

Overview

Profound Achievement Despite Challenges

Las Cruces Public Schools, the second largest district in New Mexico, overcame significant obstacles and quadrupled the number of Grades K–5 students achieving mathematics proficiency in a single year. Implementing a daily 90-minute mathematics block that included 60 minutes of whole class instruction using i-Ready Classroom Mathematics and 30 minutes of intervention time using i-Ready Personalized Instruction, proficiency grew from seven percent to 38 percent of students performing on or above grade level, an astonishing 443 percent increase overall.

Testimonials

When we saw our midyear data, the teachers were shocked. The numbers had increased from seven percent to 22 percent. It wasn’t anything we had ever expected, especially in the middle of a pandemic, but the program was rigorous and fueled continuous growth through the spring, which brought hesitant folks on board.
