Language-related features and resources address the California ELD Standards and show teachers how to scaffold instruction so English Learners can develop the academic language they need for success in math.

  • Language Objectives in every lesson
  • Math and academic vocabulary learned and practiced through routines, activities, and in-context use
  • Activity-specific support to differentiate support for English Learners
  • Academic Language Focus identification in each unit
  • Build Academic Language for All Students highlights one lesson Language Objective and shows how teachers can help students bridge everyday language to academic language over the course of lesson activities.
  • Every unit has three Academic Language Focus resources to practice, observe, and formatively assess progress related to the unit’s Academic Language Focus.
