New York State Education Department Approves Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready® Diagnostic for Reading and Math

Online assessment for grades K–12 to help New York State school districts and BOCES define student growth for teacher and principal evaluations

North Billerica, MA, November 17, 2015

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) has recently selected Curriculum Associates' i-Ready Diagnostic for reading and math as an approved Assessment for Use with Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) and as an approved Supplemental Assessment with Corresponding Growth Models for grades K–12. As a result of this approval, districts and BOCES throughout New York can use the program as part of teachers' and principals' annual performance appraisals per the state's teacher evaluation requirements.

The complete list of approved student assessments, including i-Ready Diagnostic for reading and math for grades K–12, is available on the NYSED website at: http://usny.nysed.gov/rttt/teachers-leaders/assessments/approved-list-3012-d.html. All approved assessments underwent a very strict and thorough review process, and were deemed to demonstrate an exemplary standard of rigor, validity, and reliability, as well as the ability to measure one year's expected growth for individual students and provide differentiated student-level results.

“We're pleased to bring this comprehensive teaching and learning program aligned to the New York standards to students throughout the state,” said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates. “The approval by NYSED signifies the power of i-Ready Diagnostic technology in delivering differentiated instruction, improving outcomes, and providing an accurate measure of student growth.”
