i-Ready® Diagnostic & Instruction Now Includes High School Diagnostic and Progress Monitoring

SIIA CODiE Award-winning online diagnostic and instruction program identifies root causes behind students' challenges and gives teachers tools to differentiate instruction

North Billerica, MA, May 7, 2013

This August, i-Ready Diagnostic & Instruction will include monthly Progress Monitoring assessments for grades K–8 and will expand diagnostic assessments through grade 12. These additions will increase the functionality of i-Ready Diagnostic & Instruction, an award-winning online program that helps educators identify students' strengths and weaknesses and tailors instruction accordingly.

“A single assessment that spans grades K–12 can provide educators in an entire district with the tools, data and common language they need for measuring growth on the same scale from year-to-year,” said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates. “Further, educators need to be provided with more frequent data to assess student progress. Progress Monitoring at the class, grade, school, and district level is a critical step in providing this key insight.”

i-Ready Diagnostic & Instruction is now one of the few programs on the market today that can provide districts with a single solution to assess, instruct and monitor student growth throughout their K–12 experience.

New Features
The new high school diagnostic items will cover both reading and mathematics. With the expansion to high school, i-Ready Diagnostic creates a seamless K–12 experience and provides educators with a single measure to track student growth over time and throughout the student's K–12 career. The new assessment items feature an extensive use of compare and contrast, as well as multimedia items to reflect the increased rigor of the Common Core standards at the high school level. District and administrator reports generated within i-Ready will now include results through grade 12.

The new Progress Monitoring assessment tool for grades K–8 provides a global outcome measure for both reading and mathematics and will allow educators to more quickly intervene in student instruction without having to wait for the next diagnostic assessment. Each “mini-diagnostic” is approximately 15 minutes in length and can be administered monthly or more frequently as needed. The Progress Monitoring assessment measures growth on the same scale as the Diagnostic which means educators can see whether the student is on track to meet end-of-year expectations.
