One year into interrupted schooling due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators, community members, and policymakers across the country are continuing to ask questions about student learning while reflecting on what teachers and students have achieved under unprecedented circumstances. Using i-Ready Diagnostic’s criterion-referenced grade-level placement data from more than nine million students, we compared student achievement during winter 2020–2021 to what we would expect during a typical school year.
