Understanding a student’s reading performance is critical to ensuring they have the right instruction at the right time. The new i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading, an authentic Spanish reading language arts assessment for students in Grades K–6, determines a student’s Spanish reading proficiency using an online assessment that connects to high-quality instructional resources.

The new i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading is an easy-to-administer assessment that provides educators with insights into how to help students achieve grade-level success.

  • Developed by native Spanish speakers. The i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading was developed by assessment experts specializing in Spanish reading standards for Grades K–6.
  • Authentic content. All reading passages represent the varied cultural backgrounds and experiences of Spanish-speaking students.
  • Easy to administer. All components of the i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading will be available as part of the i-Ready Assessment suite. The assessment is a fixed-form (i.e., non-adaptive), 35-item assessment that is digitally administered.
  • Scoring is automated. Results are available through user-friendly class reports.
  • It is included at no additional charge with your i-Ready Diagnostic for Reading license.

How It Works

  • Benchmark Assessment monitors overall student grade-level performance in Spanish reading at the beginning of the year, midyear, and end of the year.
  • Developed for a variety of classroom uses. The i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading can be used in Spanish programs, dual-language programs, transitional-bilingual programs, and as a tool to evaluate reading skills in Spanish.
  • Connects to i-Ready’s instructional resources to support high-quality, grade-level instruction.

Key Facts about Reporting Guidelines

The i-Ready Assessment of Spanish Reading will be available for early release during the 2021–2022 school year, with full release following in fall 2022.

During the launch year of 2021–2022, educators will receive the percentage of questions answered correctly for each domain immediately at the completion of the assessment. Several months after students take the assessment, placement relative to grade level will become available.

Beginning with the full release in the 2022–2023 school year, educators will receive the aggregate and student-level placement as well as the percentage of questions answered correctly (by domain) immediately after the completion of each assessment.
