About Nick Alfred
Nick Alfred is currently the Jamestown Lawn School Grade 6 Math and Social Studies teacher. He has dedicated his career to the Jamestown, Rhode Island school district, having taught Grades 7 and 8 mathematics and STEM for 16 years, working closely with the special educators. Nick is not only a teacher but has also served as a technology coach, athletics director, cross country and track coach, and schoolwide math interventionist. During the 2011–2012 school year, he was awarded District Teacher of the Year by his colleagues. Nick enjoys learning about new technology to engage and excite his students as well as sharing this with his colleagues. He also fosters positive relationships with his students through his use of humor. His student-centered classroom allows students to feel safe asking questions and knowing that not always “being correct” is part of the learning process.
