Curriculum Associates, a leading education technology company that provides learning support to more than 11 million students (i.e., a third of the nation’s Grades K–8 students) and more than 700,000 teachers across the United States, was recognized by the workplace culture site Comparably for its leadership and employee growth opportunities. Curriculum Associates was selected out of 70,000 companies in the US and won across two categories: Best CEOs for Women and Best Companies for Career Growth. In the state of Massachusetts, Curriculum Associates was listed as one of the top five companies in both categories.
Comparably Awards are derived from 15 million sentiment ratings anonymously provided by employees on Comparably.com during a 12-month period. Winners are then determined based on nearly 20 core culture metrics, ranging from work–life balance and environment to compensation and career growth.
“Each of us at Curriculum Associates is here to support better learning outcomes and futures filled with opportunity for students,” said Curriculum Associates CEO Rob Waldron. “To create the tomorrow we want for the children we serve, we need to ensure these values of growth and possibility are experienced by our team. These honors are a testament to the culture of learning and inclusivity we’ve built and the bright future we’re all working for.”
Curriculum Associates employee Sonya Coleman attests not only to the company’s growth but also to the professional opportunities she’s experienced. Coleman joined the company in 2014 and advanced from educational sales consultant to regional sales director to educational partnership director. Today, she is VP of strategic partnerships. Coleman cites the company’s values, inclusive culture, and the support of leadership as reasons for her success at Curriculum Associates.
“This is a company where every employee’s unique contributions are valued,” said Coleman. “When I go to work, I see diverse perspectives and experiences embraced. Leadership is clearly committed to not only identifying top talent but [also] supporting us, such as through our employee resource groups and mentorship programs.”
Curriculum Associates has been recognized for its strong company culture numerous times over the years. It was honored as a Best Places to Work company by Glassdoor (2022), Inc. (2021), the Boston Globe (2014–2021), and the Boston Business Journal (2015–2018 and 2020–2021). In addition to being recognized by Entrepreneur and EdTech Digest as a top CEO, Waldron has a 99 percent approval rating on Glassdoor.
“The chief executives on this year’s list(s) have fostered company cultures that embrace diversity and inclusion, as shown by the feedback from their female employees,” said Comparably CEO Jason Nazar. “The consensus is that these top-rated CEOs lead with empathy and emotional intelligence.”
