The Pennsylvania Department of Education's Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) has defined a new child outcomes reporting strategy that will go into effect during the 2012–13 school year. In order to help Pennsylvania educators meet these requirements, OCDEL has released a list of approved early childhood assessments. Curriculum Associates' BRIGANCE® Early Childhood Developmental Inventory (ECDI) and BRIGANCE® Head Start Developmental Inventory (HSDI) were both approved by OCDEL to support outcomes reporting for children in the Infant–Toddler (0–3 years) and Pre-kindergarten (3–5 years) age ranges.
