Here are some helpful tips for connecting with students and colleagues this summer.
Jasmine Lane is a Grade 4 math and science teacher at James E. Plew Elementary School in Niceville, FL. She was inspired by many of her teachers growing up and became one to inspire the next generation of learners. She graduated cum laude from the University of Central Florida with a bachelor’s in elementary education and taught Grade 2 before moving to upstate New York with her husband. There, Jasmine worked as a substitute teacher for the Rome City School District and became a mentor through the New York State Mentoring Program. In summer 2020, she and her husband returned to Florida. Today, she is a full-time teacher, team lead for her school’s Spirit team, building representative for her local teacher union, and her school's point person for the districtwide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. contest. Although she values her students’ academic growth, you’ll find her rooting for her students at their athletic events and seeking ways to build their confidence in and out of the classroom.
