i-Ready Personalized Instruction Improves Post-COVID Academic Growth for Middle School Students
Overview
Published: May 2025
Last year, Curriculum Associates conducted a large-scale longitudinal study to examine if student academic growth is recovering or mirroring pre-COVID trends in elementary-aged cohorts. This brief report builds on that research and examines student growth among cohorts of middle school students using i-Ready Personalized Instruction as recommended.
It found that compared to national post-COVID trends, middle school students using i-Ready PI as recommended exceeded historical growth in reading and mathematics. Using i-Ready PI as recommended appeared to support post-COVID academic growth for students one grade level below their chronological grade in both reading and mathematics. In reading, students two or more grade levels below also saw growth exceed historical patterns.
