Ohio Department of Education Approves Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready Diagnostic for the 2019–2020 School Year

Educators across the state can utilize the adaptive program for five separate assessment uses

North Billerica, MA, May 14, 2019

The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) recently approved Curriculum Associates’ iReady® Diagnostic for five separate assessment uses for the 2019–2020 school year. iReady Diagnostic is part of the award-winning iReady online diagnostic and instructional program, which has more than 6.7 million users nationwide.

ODE issued a Common Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to help districts strategically identify vendor assessments for multiple purposes. According to the ODE website, this unified process has strengthened its technical evaluation to ensure approved assessments are sound and appropriate measures.

The ODE approved iReady Diagnostic in the following five categories:

  • Comparable Assessment to Ohio’s Diagnostic Assessments for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee
  • Alternative Standardized Assessment for Third Grade Reading
  • Teacher and Principal Evaluation for Grades K–3
  • Identification of Gifted Students for Grades 2–8
  • Prescreening of Gifted Students for Grades 2–8

“The ODE approvals, in addition to research showing that the program correlates strongly with Ohio’s State Tests, underscore the impact of iReady Diagnostic in the classroom,” said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates. “Using this one assessment, Ohio educators can confidently streamline the assessment process, use data to personalize their instruction, and effectively meet the varied learning needs of their students.”

Thousands of educators across Ohio already use iReady Diagnostic to help raise achievement for more than 120,000 students. “Since the time we have incorporated iReady, our students have shown an increase in their performance and our teachers are thrilled,” said Superintendent Tom Yazvac of Springfield Local Schools in New Middleton, Ohio. “Student scores have clearly demonstrated that iReady works.”
