Virginia Department of Education Names Curriculum Associates' i-Ready® an Approved Student Growth Assessment

Schools and districts across the state can use the online program aligned to Virginia's Standards of Learning to report measures of student growth

North Billerica, MA, February 6, 2018

Curriculum Associates’ i-Ready was recently named an approved Student Growth Assessment for Local School District Use by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). The online diagnostic and instruction program, which is currently used by districts across Virginia and more than 5 million K–12 students nationwide, was chosen by VDOE officials for its alignment to the state’s Standards of Learning and its ability to report measures of student growth.

i-Ready supports educators in Virginia and across the nation by pinpointing student needs, delivering individualized instruction, and monitoring progress to drive real gains for learners,” said Rob Waldron, CEO of Curriculum Associates. “We are proud to be recognized by the VDOE for the effectiveness of our program and look forward to partnering with more schools and districts across the state to support student growth.”

Built to address the rigor of the new standards, i-Ready’s mathematics and English language arts programs help students make real gains. i-Ready collects a broad spectrum of rich data on student abilities that identifies areas where a student is struggling, measures growth across a student’s career, supports teacher-led differentiated instruction, and provides a personalized instructional path within a single online solution.

i-Ready is currently being used this school year by districts in Virginia such as Fairfax County Public Schools, Richmond Public Schools, and Chesapeake Public Schools, as well as by nearly 15 percent of all K–8 students nationwide across all 50 states. Additionally, more than 1 million students use the program every school day.

i-Ready has helped our teachers become more adept at using data to drive instructional decisions for students,” said Jeri Swogger, director of elementary instruction at Frederick County Public Schools. “We’ve also found i-Ready’s instructional component and its targeted teacher resources helpful when providing students Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention.”

“The i-Ready results are easy to read, and the reports provide teachers with specific student strengths and next steps for instruction,” added Shelly Pine, K–12 math coordinator of Clarke County Public Schools. “Our teachers particularly like that they can arrange instruction based on an RTI goal developed with screener results.”
