In this webinar, educators will explore how to intentionally connect Spanish Language Arts and English Language Arts to strengthen students’ biliteracy development. Participants will examine practical strategies for identifying meaningful cross-linguistic connections, coordinating instruction across languages, and supporting multilingual learners in transferring knowledge, concepts, and literacy skills from one language to the other. Educators will leave with actionable ideas and planning considerations for creating a more coherent, intentional, and connected biliteracy experience for students.

Rocio del Castillo-Perez, Ph.D.
Dr. Rocio del Castillo-Perez brings more than 20 years of experience in special education, bilingual, and dual-language programs. Her career spans roles as a school psychologist, teacher, instructional coach, and administrator. She is an adjunct professor and coauthor of Teaching Reading in Spanish: A Linguistically Authentic Framework for Emerging Multilinguals. She cofounded Via Educational Consulting, specializing in cross-linguistic transfer, Spanish foundational skills, and program execution.
