Without a doubt, Jeannette Milburn was destined to become a teacher, and her passion for teaching has only grown throughout her career. Jeannette currently teaches sixth grade math at Braddock Middle School in Maryland. She received her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in STEM as well as her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Frostburg State University. Jeannette has been an educator in Allegany County for the past 10 years, where she spent most of her time as a fifth grade teacher. She is the 2022–2023 Teacher of the Year for John Humbird Elementary School (JHES), was a finalist for Allegany County’s 2022–2023 Teacher of the Year, and was selected as a Curriculum Associates’ Extraordinary Educator in the class of 2023. During her time as an elementary teacher, she initiated the first FIRST LEGO League Robotics team at JHES, where students in fourth and fifth grade began to build on their 21st-century skills. The robotics team’s hard work earned them first place in the 2022 4-H Robotics Competition. Jeannette’s excitement for her profession is very evident, and her students and colleagues alike are excited to learn!
