Derek Briggs, Ph.D., is a professor in the
Research and Evaluation Methodology program and directs the
Center for Assessment, Design, Research and Evaluation at University of Colorado Boulder. A Fellow of the
American Educational Research Association and member of the
National Academy of Education, he has served as president of the
National Council on Measurement in Education and edited
Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice. His research focuses on tracking student growth, connecting classroom assessment with high-stakes testing, and evaluating educational programs. Briggs advises states, districts, and organizations on test design and is recognized for contributions to psychometrics and quantitative methods. He teaches graduate courses blending theory with hands-on statistical analysis, preparing scholars to ask tough questions and demand strong evidence.
