As a teacher or administrator, you understand the importance of preparing your students to succeed on state proficiency tests and standardized tests. The results of these tests often determine whether students will be promoted to a higher grade, or will even graduate. Results of these tests may also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of a school's curriculum and teaching staff.

The most effective test preparation prepares students to perform to the best of their ability by reviewing key concepts in the content areas in which they will be tested and provides them with practice in the "mechanics" of testing - working within time limits, using bubble sheets, reading testing directions, and so on. The emphasis is on producing "test-wise" students.
This course will introduce you to some of the research behind test preparation and factors that affect test performance. The course will teach you general strategies for test-taking that students can use every day in your classroom. Finally, you will learn specific strategies for preparing students to take tests in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science. Approximate time to complete, including downloads, readings: one hour.
