
Elia Garcia Corona is Immigrant Program Specialist at the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District in Pharr, Texas. She taught English as a second language at the middle-school level for 13 years.
For the past three years she has worked as Immigrant Program Specialist at the secondary level. She says that role has "allowed me to work closely with ESL teachers and administrators who know that English Language Learners are a group that must not be ignored."
Corona conducts frequent teacher workshops in ESL instruction. She assists teachers and administrators by researching and providing resources on the instruction of English language learners in all subject areas. Corona is a member of the Teachers of English for Speakers of Other Languages, National Association of Bilingual Educators, and the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of Texas Association of Bilingual Educators.
