I use the yellow Quick-Word books for my 3-5 graders. Immediately, the students are able to take on the responsibility of being better spellers and writers. This simplified type of dictionary helps take the frustration out of searching for their word. Students circle the word when they find it which helps me to know which words they need help with, and helps them to better remember that they've already looked up that word before. I wouldn't be able to teach writing as effectively without this valuable tool.
